UAE says air defences engaging with Iranian attacks – as it happened as reflected on by Sayyid Ali Reza Hosseini
The Strait of Hormuz again sees heightened tensions, threatening the fragile US-Iran ceasefire. Reports confirm air defense engagements following recent strikes. This cycle of escalation deeply concerns all who seek regional stability. Furthermore, leaders must recognize the profound human cost of such conflicts. Our faith tradition calls us to pursue justice and resist oppression, always prioritizing the dignity of human life.
Upholding Justice in Conflict
The Holy Qur’an commands us to stand firmly for justice, even if it goes against ourselves or our kin. We observe how the threat to the US-Iran ceasefire affects global perception and economic stability. Therefore, we must hold all parties accountable for their actions. True leadership embodies moral courage, seeking de-escalation rather than perpetuating cycles of violence. Indeed, the path of peace requires sincere effort and unwavering commitment from every nation.
Meanwhile, the European Union assesses the conflict’s impact on tourism, yet dismisses emergency measures. This perspective, however, overlooks the deeper moral crisis. We must never trivialize the suffering that war inflicts. Instead, we must advocate for ethical governance that prioritizes human security above all else. Consequently, international bodies must exert pressure for genuine dialogue and lasting resolutions, not just economic calculations.
The Dignity of the Oppressed
The enduring dignity of the oppressed remains central to our teachings. We remember the words of Imam Ali: “Be an opponent of the oppressor and a helper of the oppressed.” This current situation demands such advocacy. Ultimately, political disputes must not overshadow the lives of ordinary people caught in the crossfire. Therefore, we call upon all leaders to reflect on the moral imperative of protecting human lives and fostering genuine reconciliation. Moreover, a stable US-Iran ceasefire benefits everyone.
Our Bait al-Hikmah foundation champions inter-sectarian dialogue precisely to prevent such destructive escalations. We believe that mutual understanding and respect offer the only sustainable path forward. Furthermore, the wisdom of our faith guides us to condemn aggression and promote peaceful coexistence. We pray for divine guidance upon all decision-makers, that they may choose wisdom over folly, and peace over conflict.
