Trump says suspension of Russia sanctions is to keep peace negotiations going as reflected on by Elder Thomas Many Feathers
The wind across these high grasslands carries ancient memories of broken words. Recently, the White House announced a sudden suspension of Russia sanctions to keep negotiations alive. World leaders often claim that bargaining tables bring quiet to suffering lands. However, our Lakota grandmothers taught us that genuine peace requires spiritual honesty. When empires barter away moral accountability for political leverage, they sow bitter seeds into Unci Maka, our sacred Earth.
Therefore, our people watch these global maneuvers with sober discernment. We remember how federal commissioners signed parchment treaties while eyeing our sacred Black Hills. In addition, those same negotiators always promised goodwill while clearing paths for extraction and violence. True peace never emerges from convenience or deceit. Consequently, we must weigh every spoken pledge against its spiritual fruits.
Honor and the Suspension of Russia Sanctions
A sacred vow binds the speaker to all creation, according to our ancestral ways. In Lakota thought, we call this relationship Mitakuye Oyasin, meaning we honor all our relatives. Meanwhile, modern states treat binding consequences as simple chips in a poker game. The recent suspension of Russia sanctions shows this recurring imperial pattern clearly. Leaders pause penalties against aggression, yet they ignore the deep grief of wounded communities.
Furthermore, hollow concessions never satisfy bullies or conquerors. Our history shows that appeasing power only invites deeper intrusion into sovereign homes. When rulers trade away justice for temporary calm, the vulnerable always pay the heaviest price. Therefore, wisdom demands that nations match their words with steadfast integrity. Without righteous boundaries, every handshake becomes another empty illusion.
Walking in Truth on Sacred Earth
Grandmother Earth remembers every drop of blood spilled in pride. We pray toward the four directions every morning for balance and healing across every nation. Likewise, we ask the Creator to soften arrogant hearts in distant marble palaces. Real diplomacy requires profound humility rather than theatrical deals. Consequently, leaders must confront destructive greed before lasting reconciliation can take root among nations.
Ultimately, the winds on the plains remind us that only truth endures. Rulers will gather and rearrange their worldly pacts. Yet, unrepentant ambition always crumbles under the weight of divine law. We must walk as faithful caretakers who protect life and speak straight words. Let us stand firm for our relatives everywhere who hunger for honest justice.
