Is Europe preparing for a wider war with Russia? as reflected on by Dastur Cyrus Jamshidi
In the Asho Farohar Center’s quiet inner sanctuary, our sacred fire burns with steady clarity. Outside these walls, the harbor churns day and night with immense container vessels and frantic commerce. Today, maritime tickers and international screens carry news of televised war games across the British Channel. Sharp, radioactive threats answer from Moscow. Statesmen and broadcasters turn the specter of a **Europe wider war** into staged spectacle. They stir the waters of panic. They treat living souls’ fate as a game of strategic theater.
Our tradition teaches a cosmic contest. Asha, cosmic truth and righteous harmony, battles Druj, falsehood and chaotic distortion. The great deception of our era believes conflict can be simulated lightly. It suggests violent rhetoric carries no spiritual cost. Rehearsing destruction before millions of spectators is not prudent preparedness. Instead, it indulges fear. This feeds the chaotic spirit. Leaders speak casually of nuclear devastation. Consequently, they lend their breath directly to Druj. They pollute the moral atmosphere long before the first missile takes flight.
Consequences of Reckless Posturing
Zoroastrians have tended sacred elements for millennia. We recognize earth, water, and fire as holy trusts. Our primary duty as stewards is Frashokereti. This means creation’s ultimate rehabilitation and renewal. A modern war, fought with nuclear weapons, represents this sacred duty’s total inversion. It promises the deliberate poisoning of winds. It guarantees the permanent corruption of rivers and oceans. It also ensures the scorching of fertile ground. To invite such ruin through reckless posturing is not merely a diplomatic breakdown. Furthermore, it constitutes an assault against material creation entrusted to our custody.
From our great port city, we clearly see global life’s interconnected threads. Wheat feeds distant capitals. Fuel warms northern hearths. Medicines preserve life. All these flow across shared, vulnerable waters. Powerful states prepare their peoples for total war. Consequently, they sever the fundamental honesty required for peaceful trade and mutual survival. Greed, pride, and lust for territorial domination blind them. They ignore our shared fragility. A harbor cannot flourish under naval blockades. Likewise, human civilization cannot endure when nations abandon righteous reciprocity. The threat of a **Europe wider war** jeopardizes everything.
Embracing Vohu Manah Against Discord
Zarathushtra’s ancient teachings call upon every person to exercise Vohu Manah, the Good Mind. True strength does not reveal itself in brandishing catastrophic arsenals. It does not appear in staging militaristic dramas to frighten neighbors. Instead, true strength lies in discerning wisdom and calm restraint. It requires the courage to refuse the spiral of retaliation. Ministers and generals replace clear-eyed judgment with apocalyptic posturing. They forfeit the wisdom that distinguishes genuine governance from violent folly. This path leads to ruin.
The duty of the faithful in rising darkness is neither fatalism nor despair. Each person must choose where to cast their will. Will it be toward discord’s reckless currents? Or will it be toward truth, fairness, and calm’s steady maintenance? We cannot command cabinets in London or generals in Moscow. However, we can steadfastly refuse the currency of terror they trade in. By keeping our thoughts pure, our speech measured, and our actions just, we safeguard Asha’s light. We protect it against the howling winds of conflict. This is our sacred task.
